SALCAT STORY

The SalCat concept was born over a decade ago with a university dissertation that achieved a 98% result, focused on the hydrodynamic and structural design of planing motor catamarans. In the years that followed, the project evolved steadily as a passion-led pursuit, progressing alongside other design and build programmes such as the Trident 12 and the Fisher 15. Following a career shift, the long-held SalCat vision has now become a reality.

SALCAT DESIGN

Designed entirely in-house, the SalCat range began as a series of hand-drawn sketches before evolving into detailed CAD models. Once refined, the designs underwent rigorous testing using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to analyse and optimise performance.

SALCAT SCIENCE

The SalCat’s slender twin hulls reduce wave-making resistance by up to 50% compared with a traditional monohull, enabling more efficient cruising and a smoother, more comfortable ride. Minimal trim angles and exceptional stability cut vertical motion by up to 40%, delivering a softer, more enjoyable experience on the water. Unlike a monohull, the SalCat’s wide stance provides outstanding stability, with virtually no roll either at rest or underway.

SalCats are engineered specifically for twin outboard installations, delivering balanced thrust, efficient performance, and precise handling. While twin 30hp engines provide a capable entry-level configuration, larger outboards offer improved acceleration and cruising performance. For the ultimate thrill, the SalCat 600 can be paired with twin 90hp outboards.
