SHRINK WRAPPING

Shrink wrapping offers several benefits, particularly for those stored outdoors during the off-season.

It provides protection from harsh weather conditions, such as wind, rain, and UV rays, which can cause damage to the boat's exterior. The shrink wrap also prevents dirt and debris from accumulating, and reduces the risk of pests desecrating the interior, therefore helping to maintain the boat's condition. This protective barrier can extend the lifespan of the boat, reduce maintenance costs, and ensure it's ready for use when the season starts.

Our shrink wrapping services can be added as part of your storage package, or we are happy to offer a mobile shrink wrapping service at your convenience covering the Hope Cove, Salcombe and Kingsbridge areas.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

  • Boats are pressure-washed and chemically cleaned

  • Outboard engines are winterised (if applicable)

  • Left to dry for 24 hours, towel dried and prepared for wrapping

  • The shrink wrap film is tailored to the boat's shape and size

  • A specialised flame gun heats the material to provide a tight seal around the boat

  • The heat shrink is inspected for any holes

  • Your boat is ready for whatever the winter throws at us!

SHRINK WRAP vs INDOOR STORAGE

Indoor storage is undoubtedly the better long-term solution. However, for seasonal storage, shrink-wrapping has been proven to protect your boat just as well as indoor storage. The thorough cleaning, drying and preparations before the wrap is applied will mean your boat is fully prepared for the season when you are.

WHAT ABOUT MY TRAILER?

The first thing to note is that all modern boat trailers are fully galvanised, protecting them from corrosion caused by oxygen and water. This means they are designed to withstand the harsh elements of the outdoor environment (and indeed salt water).

We also offer Lanoguard treatment as well as trailer servicing and a 20-point inspection (including greasing to protect it further).

SHRINK WRAP FAQ's

Is it safe to shrink wrap RIBs (Rigid Inflatable Boats)?

Absolutely - the temperature and flame are safe for all types of boats.

Can I get into my boat once it has been shrink wrapped?

We can install zipped access hatches (additional charges apply)

Does a cover not just do the same job?

In theory, yes. In reality, no. Covers aren't always 100% waterproof, suffer from degradation and often don't form a tight enough seal around your boat. This allows moisture in which leads to mould and mildew.
